The Ministry of Health’s quality index report published today states: the Department of Emergency Medicine at the Laniado Sanz Medical Center provides initial treatment within just 4 minutes of entering the department. The short time is a certificate of honor for the staff of the department, which came in second place at the national level, among all the hospitals in the State of Israel. Many other indices examined, which deal with a wide range of treatments, tests and consultations, show that all departments meet the national criteria. Thus, for example, the index examined the issue of performing surgery for a femoral neck fracture within 48 hours from the moment of diagnosis – the national target was 85%, and the orthopedic department in Laniado meets it. Similarly, an index that examines the performance of a risk assessment for the development of an ischemic event in the brain, for patients suffering from atrial fibrillation – the national index was 80%, and the staff of the Department of Neurology and the Cardiology Division in Laniado meets this. In addition, an index that examines the performance of carotid artery duplex within 3 days from the moment of diagnosis of a transient stroke – the national target was 85%, and the staff of the imaging department in Laniado meets the set goal.
In addition, a general index, called in the “League Table” report, will weigh the indices among hospitals with a similar scope of activity, in different geographical areas in the country. The general index shows very impressive data – 9.99 out of 10 optional indices.
Prof. Zvi Shimoni, the Medical Director at the Laniado Sanz Medical Center, reviewed the report’s data and said: “I am looking at two important indices: the index that examines the provision of service in the Department of Emergency Medicine (emergency room) is about 80,000 visits a year. This is a huge certificate of honor for the entire staff! Ability to provide service within 4 minutes is the result of intra-departmental work that sees patients at the center. There is no doubt that the results of the investment are greatly reaped by patients and families”.
