The Laniado Hospital Staff shares in the moments of both grief and solace of the Daniel family.

Today, the solemn news was received: the body of the abducted IDF soldier, Staff Sergeant Oz Daniel H.Y.D. (May G-d Avenge His Blood), has been returned to the State of Israel from the terrorists’ captivity. Throughout this painful period, all staff members of Laniado Hospital prayed for this moment—the moment when Oz H.Y.D. would merit burial in an Israeli grave.

Oz was tragically killed on the first day of the “Swords of Iron” War, while fighting alongside his comrades from the 7th Armored Brigade against the Nukhba terrorists. Oz H.Y.D., a crew member of Tank No. 3, under the command of Captain Omer Naotra, managed to exit the tank on his feet. He then chose to continue fighting the vile murderers until his final moments.

Approximately four months after his abduction, he was declared fallen, following 141 days during which his fate remained unknown. Oz was 19 years old at the time of his passing. He is survived by his parents, Meirav and Amir, and his twin sister, Hadar.

Oz was a gifted guitarist who believed deeply in the power of music to change the world. His passion for the guitar began at age nine, and he dreamed of performing for audiences both domestically and internationally.

His relatives described him as a witty, principled, life-loving young man who was always seen with a tremendous smile, a trait widely affirmed by his many friends.

Oz H.Y.D.’s mother, Meirav, is an employee of the research company BioGensell, which operates within the hospital campus and is actively engaged in developing treatments for ischemic limb disease
