“The Laniado hospital’s team continues to treat bravely the Corona patients. I met dedicated staff members, with extensive clinical and nursing experience, who give their all for the patients. The solution to the plight of the hospitals is to add manpower standards. Unmanned ECMO machines or breathing devices will not provide the necessary response”, – said Prof. Zarka.

The Corona Commissioner Prof. Salman Zarka toured Laniado Hospital this morning. Prof. Zarka was received by the Laniado management headed by CEO Mr. Nadav Chen. The Laniado CEO presented to Prof. Zarka a comprehensive overview of the hospital’s dealings with the Corona since the outbreak of the first wave and until dealing with the epidemic and the delta strain in the current fourth wave. The CEO of Laniado presented to Prof. Zarka the urgent need to add manpower standards to the internal and intensive care departments, in order to meet the heavy load placed on the shoulders of the officers. Afterwards, Prof. Zarka toured the Corona department and the respiratory emergency department, met the staff members and heard from the staff about the character of their work, the daily challenges and dealing with a new variant – the delta variant of the corona virus.

During the tour, Mr. Nadav Chen, CEO of Laniado Hospital, said: “We have been struggling with Corona for over a year and a half. During this time we, the seven public hospitals, have waged a struggle to compare our budgeting with the budgeting of the hospitals – I expect that the recently signed agreement will indeed be implemented as written and worded. I ask for your help in immediately adding medical and nursing manpower standards to the hospital. Manpower is the real solution to the current situation. Without manpower, we will not be able to provide treatment, even if we have all the machines”.

Prof. Zarka summed up the tour and said: “You do dedicated clinical and nursing work that saves lives every day. There is no doubt that the solution to the heavy burden currently placed on the shoulders of the staff here in Laniado and other teams throughout the country is vaccination of the entire population along with the addition of manpower standards for doctors and nurses. The person is the one who is at the front around the clock and he is the one who will be able to operate ECMO machines or breathing devices. The management of the Ministry has been working for this goal for a long time and I will continue to work for this goal in the future as well”.
