Despite the increased
preoccupation of the health care system in the State of Israel and throughout
the world in treating the Corona epidemic, the institutes and outpatient
clinics at Laniado Hospital continue to develop the clinical services intended
for the entire population, and not only for corona patients. A new orthotics
clinic will open next week in Laniado under the management of Ms. Spiegelman, a
qualified orthoptist and optometrist with extensive experience. The clinic will
provide treatment and follow-up for children with problems of lazy eye and
strabismus and prescription of glasses for children, and will also respond to
adults suffering from double vision that can be caused in part as a result of a
stroke or another systemic problem.
About three percent of the child
population in Israel suffers from lazy eye. The problem of lazy eye is a
critical problem to treat at early ages, since the connection between the eye
and the brain is built in childhood and then the problem is fixed as a problem
that causes significant damage to vision. Early diagnostics and close follow-up
in childhood are critical to the success of treatment. The treatment includes
an examination with dilation drops followed by a decision to provide glasses if
necessary and continued close follow-up during the critical years for vision
development. In addition to this, any vision complaint in children requires a
thorough examination and continued treatment that will enable quality vision in
the future as well.
Mrs. Shari Parkash, director of
the institutes and outpatient clinics at Laniado Hospital, said that “the
opening of the clinic is good news for the residents of Netanya and Ha-Sharon
Area, especially for the children who live in this area, who will be able to
receive professional and comprehensive treatment at the clinic, alongside the
senior ophthalmologists working in Laniado”
.
Mr. Nadav Chen, CEO of Laniado,
stated: “Continuing the development of the ambulatory system in Laniado is
a strategic goal for us. We see our duty in providing all relevant medical
services to the population of the area and will continue to develop the system
even during the Corona period”.
