The opening of the dialysis department joins the dramatic construction and development process that has been taking place in the recent period at Laniado Hospital. This process included opening of t following facilities: 12 birthing rooms, a premature babies’ room, a children emergency room and a trauma room. In addition, a new CT machine was purchased for the hospital – all this within a period of one year only!
A new and protected dialysis department was opened at Laniado Hospital. The department spreads over 1200 square meters, is located in the basement floor, is completely protected and is able to provide medical service even in war situations. The new department is divided into three treatment spaces, a total of 34 stations equipped with the most advanced equipment. It also contains isolation rooms, conference rooms and staff rooms. The investment in establishing the department exceeds NIS 20 million. The funds raised by the hospital’s executive committee, together with the Department of Resource Development and Foreign Relations. The donation that made the opening of the department possible is the donation of Rabbi Israel Noah Gutman – Chairman of the Friends of Laniado – Switzerland. His contribution to the construction of the protecting infrastructure of the department, in accordance with strict regulatory requirements, was the “hammer blow” that enabled the launch of the department. The dialysis department staff is prepared for a significant increase in the number of patients who will receive treatment in the department – 27 stations were operated in the old structure of the department, while the new department will include 34 stations.
Dr. Moshe Shesher, Head of the Dialysis Department at Laniado Hospital, said: “The importance of opening the new department is in the new and advanced equipment, in increased number of treatment stations, operating isolation rooms, and in protecting the department it extreme situations. Mr. Nadav Chen, CEO of Laniado Hospital, stated: “We are in the midst of a dramatic strategic process of building and developing departments and units at the hospital. The process included opening of 12 birthing rooms, prematurity unit, children triage, a trauma room and a CT machine for the ER – all within one year! And if we look at a period of three years – we are talking about opening of an orthopedics department and a gyneco-oncology department. Over NIS 100 million were raised for this purpose by the hospital’s board of directors, together with the resource development and foreign relations department. All of this action is taking place at the same time as we are dealing intensively with the Corona epidemic, a fight that required us to use many resources in terms of manpower, equipment and instruments. I thank a very large team that was involved in the work. We all are looking ahead – to the next project, construction of a new intensive care department for about half a million residents of Netanya and Ha-Sharon Region”.
