The Minister of Health MK Nitzan Horowitz visited Laniado Hospital this morning

“Laniado Hospital serves about half a million residents of Netanya and Sharon as a non-governmental public hospital and does holy work for the patients. Public hospitals are an integral part of the health system. We all are a team. The agreement signed with the Ministry of Finance will be fully implemented, me personally and the staff of the office deal with this every day. Laniado Hospital is managed in an efficient and effective manner, I see a dedicated team here in a way that inspires appreciation, despite the exhausting wear and tear caused by dealing with the Corona”, – said the Minister of Health.

The Minister of Health, MK Nitzan Horowitz, toured Laniado Hospital this morning and met the hospital’s management headed by CEO Nadav Chen. He visited the Corona Ward, Internal Ward A and the Emergency Medicine Ward (Emergency Room). The challenging coping of the hospital’s staff with the Corona epidemic, both in the respiratory emergency department, the Corona wards and the corona intensive care department, all this while facing significant financial challenges derived from the hospital’s status as a non-governmental public hospital, were represented to the Minister. The minister visited internal ward A – a ward full of patients lying in the corridors, spoke with the staff and with the patients. – “20 years of budgetary neglect translate into long rows of beds in the corridor. This is how it looked during my visit today to the Laniado Hospital in Netanya. The medical team does an amazing job here, but under poor conditions. By the way, regardless of the Corona, to turn the wheel you have to change the perception. Instead of a capitalist policy that sees health as an economic burden, restore the social-democratic health system. This is my mission. This is what I am doing, and in the upcoming budget we will already see the beginning of the change”, – said the minister during his visit to the department.

Mr. Nadav Chen, CEO of Laniado Hospital, thanked the Minister of Health for his visit to the hospital, and said: “We have been in a war of attrition against the Corona virus for 18 months. In management meetings, my team and I are already preparing for the fifth wave, hoping that it will not come.  The situation in which I deal every day with cash flow problems, arising as a result of unequal budgeting, must stop. The agreement we signed to compare the status of the seven public hospitals should be implemented on the ground. We cannot and do not want to deal with legal and bureaucratic problems in the midst of a difficult and exhausting fight against the Corona virus. Dozens of the Corona patients are treated here every day in various departments.  There is an acute shortage of manpower and ECMO machines. The machines without manpower are similar to iron connected to electricity only”.
