A festive singing concert was held last week in the Beit Tefilah community in Baltimore. The event, which was initiated by the community of Beit Tefila, the cantor Avraham Albrecht and the administration of Laniado Hospital, marked the retirement of the community cantor Avraham Albrecht, after decades of being a cantor and singing among the community. The warm relationship between the community of Beit Tefilah and Laniado Hospital, which includes support of the community members in the clinical activity carried out in Laniado, allows Laniado Hospital to continue promotion and development activities in various fields.

About 1000 people participated in the festive concert. The funds collected during the event are intended for the purchase of equipment and medical devices for the general intensive care department at Laniado Hospital. The new department, which is expected to be occupied during the coming winter, will contain 21 treatment stations, living spaces for families, conference rooms and staff rooms. Fund-raising for the establishment of the department lasted for about three years. These days construction of the department and the related procurement are being completed. The general intensive care department, headed by Dr. Morris Shapiro and the nurse in charge Ms. Lydia Lanxner, provides life-saving treatment for about half a million residents of Netanya and the Sharon Area experiencing clinical emergency situations.

Mr. Meir Mark, Deputy CEO for Resource Development and External Relations at Laniado Hospital who participated in the event said: “The Beit Tefilah community in Baltimore is a community with special qualities in the Jewish world – qualities of giving, mission and a deep commitment to the Land of Israel. This community, which has been singing the song of giving for years, deserves deep appreciation for its work. We are full of gratitude for holding this evening and wish our dear friend Cantor Avraham Albrecht good health and longevity”.

The event was produced and managed in cooperation with many volunteers from the members of the community and Rabbi Daniel Hanan Skornik – Director of Development of Laniado’s resources in the state of Maryland and the region.
