Deepening the cooperation between the Schneider Center for Pediatrics in Israel from the Clalit Group and Laniado Hospital: today a pediatric surgery unit was launched at Laniado Hospital. The unit includes round-the-clock service in the inpatient department, consultation services and a clinic for ambulatory patients, a surgical service for children who need it, and a round-the-clock doctor’s response for the children’s emergency medicine department.

The launch of the unit became possible after a pilot that lasted about a year and a half, during which senior doctors from the Schneider Medical Center came twice a week to Laniado Hospital and performed surgeries and consultations. Now, the service is expanding and it will be provided in a clear physical framework – hospital rooms will be allocated for children suffering from surgical problems, and the service will be provided throughout the week.

The launching ceremony was attended by: CEO of Laniado Mr. Nadav Chen, Dean of the Adelson Faculty of Medicine at Ariel University Prof. Shay Ashkenazi, Director of the Department of Surgery at the Schneider Medical Center Dr. Dargan Karbroshich, Laniado’s management and staff of the Children’s Department of Laniado Hospital, managed by Dr. Michael Ben Akon.

The surgical unit in the children’s wing is added to a very active wing that includes: a children’s emergency medicine department, an inpatient department, 2 neonatal wards, a maternity ward and a set of outpatient clinics and institutes in a very wide range of specialization areas.

The director of the surgical department at the Schneider Center, Dr. Dragan Karbroshich, participated in the event, congratulated the teams from Schneider and Laniado and said: “We see this collaboration as a great mission – providing treatment and medical advice at the Schneider’s standard to the tens of thousands of children in Netanya and the Sharon area. We will make the best specialist doctors of the Schneider surgical department available to the little patients and the concerned parents.”

According to the director of the Schneider Center, Dr. Efrat Baron Harlev: “We are proud to be a part of a move that will improve the care and service that Laniado Hospital provides to the children who come to it. We support any cooperation whose goal is the benefit of children’s health, regardless of who they are”.

Dr. Michael Ben Akon, Director of the Children’s Department at Laniado Hospital, thanked Dr. Karbroshich for his trust and cooperation and said at the event: “The Children’s Department at Laniado Hospital has been upgrading recently, thanks to the recruitment of highly reputable personnel. We are expanding services, purchasing advanced equipment, and more and more patients with a wide range of clinical problems are accepted. The trust created between the Schneider team and the Laniado team is not taken for granted, and I thank the entire staff of the Laniado wing and the Schneider team for their dedication to the success of the pilot”.

Mr. Nadav Chen, CEO of Laniado Hospital, said at the event: “Expanding services at Laniado Hospital – in the children’s wing and other departments – is a distinct community need. We are attentive to the requests of about half a million residents of Netanya and Sharon, who need medical treatment. Our collaboration at Laniado Hospital with the Schneider Pediatric Center is part of a strategic move to expand medical services”.
