INAUGURATION OF THE TREATMENT ROOM IN MATERNITY C DEPARTMENT

A AUSPICIOUS MILESTONE: NEW TREATMENT ROOM INAUGURATED IN THE NEWLY SHELTERED MATERNITY C DEPARTMENT

In a moving and festive ceremony, a state-of-the-art treatment room was officially inaugurated in the newly Sheltered Maternity C Department. The room was generously donated by Mr. David and Dr. Leah Cutler, and dedicated in honor of their close friend and long-time supporter, Mr. Harold Stern. The new Department seamlessly combines world-class medicine, comprehensive missile protection, and luxurious hospitality with a stunning Mediterranean view.

The event commenced with a captivating tour led by Mr. Eli Knoller, Director of Development in Florida and the Laniado Supporters in Netanya Foundation, who took the participants back to the foundational roots of the medical center.

Mr. Knoller shared the deeply moving history of the hospital’s founder, the Klausenburger Rebbe, Rabbi Yekutiel Yehuda Halberstam, of blessed memory. The Rebbe, who lost his entire family and was wounded during the Holocaust, was shot by a Nazi officer. In those harrowing moments, he vowed that if he survived the horrors, he would establish a hospital dedicated to providing devoted medical care to every human being—regardless of religion, race, or gender.

To this day, the Rebbe’s vision continues to come to life every day, as Laniado Hospital undergoes constant development, expansion, and modernization.

An Island of Tranquility Facing the Sea

As the tour proceeded, guests arrived at the new Maternity C Department —a Sheltered, luxurious facility with an extraordinary architectural design. The ward was meticulously planned to offer new mothers the utmost peace, serenity, and privacy during the sensitive first days following childbirth.

The architectural design features spacious layouts, soft, calming palettes, and abundant natural light. The crown jewel is the spectacular view through the ward’s windows, looking out directly over the waves of the Mediterranean Sea.

This creates the ambiance of a luxury hotel, fostering an optimal environment for the healing and recovery of the young mothers.

The formal ceremony included several deeply moving highlights:

  • Affixing the Mezuzah: Honoring Mr. David Cutler.
  • The Unveiling of the Plaque: Performed by the guest of honor, Mr. Harold Stern.
  • The Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony: Jointly led by the donors, Mr. David Cutler and his wife, Dr. Leah Cutler.

Community Partnership and a Vision for the Future

The attendees then moved to the department’s elegantly designed dining room for the opening remarks.

The donors, Mr. David and Dr. Lea Cutler, warmly thanked their family members, friends, and numerous neighbors who traveled from near and far to share in this milestone occasion. In their address, the couple emphasized the paramount importance of supporting a community hospital, noting the profound comfort in knowing that the new treatment room will faithfully serve tens of thousands of women and newborns for many years to come.

They also shared their decision to dedicate the room as a token of deep appreciation for their dear friend, Mr. Harold Stern.

Mr. Harold Stern, a long-time and devoted benefactor of the hospital, emotionally recited the traditional “Shehecheyanu” blessing, expressing gratitude for reaching this momentous occasion. Mr. Stern reflected on the hospital’s meteoric rise over the years—evolving from a modest, local maternity facility into a leading multidisciplinary medical center that today operates 61 diverse departments and specialized units.

Dr. Yael Yekel-Melamed, Director of Maternity Department and Head of Labor and Delivery Services, expressed her gratitude to the donors on behalf of the entire medical and nursing staff: “This new treatment room will deliver the highest standard of medical care. It will enable us to continue providing mothers and newborns with the most professional, swift, and secure treatment under optimal conditions.”

The event concluded with remarks from Mr. Meir Mark, Vice President of Development and Foreign affairs at Laniado Hospital, who shared the hospital’s ambitious development plans. Mr. Mark noted with satisfaction the completion of the Sheltered Maternity C Department project and elaborated on the medical center’s current flagship initiative: the construction of a $77 million Sheltered Emergency Hospital, designed to ensure uninterrupted medical care for the region’s residents even during complex emergencies.
