The moving event took place in the presence of the donor, Mr. Andrew Greystoke, and his family, who traveled specially to commemorate Andrea’s memory within the hospital walls—a place that entirely symbolizes new life, hope, and the future.
A Tour of the Luxurious Department: A 5-Star Standard
The event commenced with a professional and comprehensive review of the new Maternity C Department. The tour was led by Mr. Meir Mark, Vice President of Development and Foreign Affairs at Laniado, alongside Mr. Simon Silver, Director of Development for Laniado UK.
During the tour, the family members were introduced to the department’s exceptional luxury and splendor, which redefines the concept of postpartum hospitalization in Israel. The entire ward was designed and constructed to an uncompromising, premium hotel standard, aiming to provide new mothers with a perfect, serene, and pampering recovery experience immediately after childbirth.
The department harmoniously blends modern architectural design in soft tones, warm and soothing lighting, and above all, a panoramic sea view that instills a sense of tranquility and peace, with the most advanced medical and technological equipment in the healthcare world. The rooms look and feel like suites in a leading boutique hotel—featuring premium furniture, comfortable lounge chairs for accompanying guests, a private luxury bathroom, and smart technological systems for personalized room comfort control.
The Moment of Commemoration: Ribbon-Cutting and Unveiling
At the peak of the tour, the family arrived at the new, luxurious room, where the official ceremony was held:
- Ribbon-cutting and the official opening of the room for patient welfare.
- The unveiling of the dedication plaque bearing the name of the late Andrea Greystoke.
- Presentation of a certificate of appreciation to Mr. Greystoke by Mr. Mark and Mr. Silver, as a token of gratitude for his true partnership with the hospital.
Raising a Toast: For the Future Generation
Following the official ceremony, the attendees gathered inside the new room for a warm and intimate “L’chaim” toast. In his address, the hospital’s VP, Mr. Meir Mark, emphasized the vision behind the department’s establishment and the significance of the contribution: “The birth experience does not end in the delivery room. The first days of recovery are critical for the mother’s physical and emotional healing. The comfort, quiet, and excellent hotel-grade conditions that the mothers receive here, in this room, are a direct result of your generosity. You allow them to be emotionally and physically available for the most important thing—themselves and their baby.”
Later in the meeting, Dr. Aryeh Simmonds, Director of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Laniado Hospital, also spoke. Dr. Simmonds shared the medical and human significance of the connection between the maternity ward and the neonatal and NICU departments. He explained how supporting and developing a maternity department to such a high standard directly impacts the health, safety, and well-being of newborns and premature infants from their very first moments in the world.
Laniado Hospital extends its heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Andrew Greystoke and his family. Thanks to your support, and owing to our partners worldwide, we continue to develop, innovate, and provide professional medicine with a big heart and under the finest conditions.
May Andrea’s memory be a blessing.
